Recipe for Apple Cobbler! Welcome Fall!

09/24/09 | Desserts and Treats, Recipes

This is one of my husbands favorites! I only like it if it’s covered with vanilla ice cream, of course 😉 This is a very simple recipe and it is really fun for the kids to help out with the apple-peeler-corer! If you don’t have one of those, don’t worry, you can peel core and slice the apples by hand.

Start with about 6 apples, we use Granny Smith because it off sets the sweetness of the crumble topping. Core, peel and thinly slice the apples.

Isn’t it fun what it does to the apples?
Add 2 table spoons flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon. Combine well.

Spray a 9×13 cake pan with non stick spray, and dump the apple mixture into the pan.
In a medium bowl, combine until crumbly, 1/2 pkg dry yellow cake mix, 1/2 cup quick oats, 3/4 cup brown sugar and one stick of softened butter.

Sprinkle over apples and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until apples are tender.

Serve a la mode and enjoy!
