Do You Have Insomnia?

07/20/15 | Mom Moments, Parenting

“I participated in an Ambassador program on behalf of Influence Central for Pernix Therapeutics. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”

I’ve been a mom for 16 years, and you know what that means. I’m sleep deprived.

I stay up late to get some quiet time and some work done, then when I do go and lay down I have a really hard time falling asleep. Then, after I do finally fall asleep, I have a hard time staying asleep. I have bad dreams and a bad neck which wake me up all night long.

I know I’m not the only one because I know that there are nearly 4 million Americans that suffer from insomnia. That is a huge sleep problem in our country! The most common symptom of insomnia is not only falling asleep, but being able to stay asleep. Did you know that? I didn’t.

Sleep is important to us moms. A groggy mommy isn’t helpful to her kids. When we don’t get enough sleep we are a little grumpy.

Why do we need so much sleep? Sleep helps us live healthier lives. Studies have found a link between insufficient sleep and some serious health problems, such as heart disease, heart attacks, diabetes, and obesity.

Did you know that 62% of Americans regularly suffer from symptoms of insomnia but only 20% believe they have the condition and 12% have been diagnosed by a doctor? That’s crazy! Let’s get more sleep people!

It’s good to know that there are effective treatment options available for those who suffer from insomnia.

If you have trouble sleeping through the night like  I do, you should talk to your doctor about your sleep routine, lifestyle and your symptoms.

If you want to learn more about the importance of getting a full uninterrupted nights sleep, visit wanttosleepmore.com.
