Homemade Carne Asada Tacos

08/06/15 | Dinner, Main Dishes, Recipes

Street Tacos are all about the meat and these Carne Asada tacos are no exception. These should definitely be in your dinner rotation.

Homemade Carne Asada Tacos

Homemade Carne Asada Tacos

2 pounds flank with the fat cut off
Olive oil, for coating the grill
Salt and Pepper or Homemade Taco Seasoning if you want more flavor
16 (7-inch) corn tortillas
Chopped white onion
Chopped cilantro

Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high flame or heat. Add 1 teaspoon to the pan to prevent the meat from sticking. Season the steak on both sides with salt and pepper. Thinly slice the steak across the grain on a diagonal. Sear the steak for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring a few times, until medium.

Cook with the onion if you want grilled onion, if not you will serve with raw onion.

Warm the tortillas for 30 seconds on each side in a dry skillet until toasty and pliable.

To assemble the tacos, stack up 2 of the warm tortillas, lay about 4 ounces of beef down the center, and sprinkle with some cilantro and onion. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
