Radiatore Crema di Pomodoro // Pasta with a Tomato Cream Sauce

09/04/15 | Dinner, Recipes

Radiatore Crema de Pomodoro

There is this little Italian Bistro that we love to go to almost every weekend. They serve the best Italian dishes we’ve had. My husband liked everything on their menu that he tried, which is not normal. His favorite dish is a rigatoni with a tomato cream sauce. So we decided to try out hand at making our own version at home. We thing the one at the Bistro tastes amazing, but we wanted the sauce to be a little thicker. We also wanted out kids to try it, so we experimented and we think we make a superior version of their dish. We call it Radiatore Crema di Pomodoro.

Radiatore Crema de Pomodoro

We chose to use Radiatore pasta because it holds so much sauce and we really wanted to taste the sauce. This is a really simple recipe, which makes it that much better. This is a recipe you can whip up in about 30 minutes so it’s perfect for a busy weeknight dinner that the whole family will love.

Radiatore Crema di Pomodoro

  • 3- 15 oz. cans tomato sauce
  • 1- 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 3 Tbs. butter
  • 1 Tbs. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. red pepper (optional)
  • 2 tsp. black pepper
  • 3 Tbs. sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup cream
  • 3 cloves garlic diced very small
  • 1 box- 16 oz. Ratiatore pasta
  • basil for garnish (optional)

Add the tomato sauce, paste, butter, onion powder, red pepper, black pepper sugar and garlic to a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat and simmer for about 20 minutes. While the sauce is simmering, cook the Radiatore pasta according to the package directions. Stir in the cream to the sauce and simmer for a few more minutes. Serve hot with basil as garnish.
