Apple Cinnamon Rolls

04/07/16 | Bread, Breads, Desserts and Treats, Family, Family Activities, Holidays, Kitchen Tips, Recipes

I am in love with puff pastry. I’m not ambitious enough to make it from scratch so I just buy it in the freezer section at my local store. It makes creating fun treats like these Apple Cinnamon Rolls for my kids super easy.

Apple Cinnamon Rolls

These rolls are fun to make with the kids. They really like lining up the apples on the dough and rolling them up. But I think they like eating them even better. These rolls remind me of apple pie so we usually serve them with vanilla ice cream. These are a perfect treat for after school or for a Sunday recipe to make with the whole family. I’ve made a video tutorial for you to make it a little easier to see how these are made. We use cinnamon and sugar as the extra ingredient in our rolls, but you could use jam or even cheese!

Apple Cinnamon Rolls

Apple Cinnamon Rolls

  • 1-2 medium sized Granny Smith Apples (depending on how many rolls you need to make)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed

Make sure you thaw your puff pastry before starting this recipe. It makes life easier! Core your apples and slice them very thinly. Measure the apple slices to the puff pastry and cut strips going the long way. Line up apples on each strip of puff pastry, sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture, add a little water to the opposite end of the pastry that you are rolling from and roll up the apples and seal at the end. Add to a muffin pan and add a small pat of butter to the top of each roll.

Apple Cinnamon Rolls

Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
