How to Have a “Day of Yes” with Your Kids + Free Printable Kids Activity List

How to have a Day of Yes with your kids

Learn how you and your kids can have a day of “YES” this Fall and make some great memories!

With 5 kids and three of them being teenagers our days are very busy. The teenagers are constantly on the go and I’m usually the one driving them from here to there and then it’s time to get ready for dinner. Along the way my 6-year-old is asking me if we can stop at the store, go to the arcade, go to the pool or play at the park. My answer usually sounds like this: “No, sorry buddy. We have so many things to do today. We don’t have time to stop right now.” I hate it. I don’t like saying no, but most of the time our days are filled so full that I don’t have the time to say “Yes”.

This is why I’m so glad that I heard about the “Day of Yes” challenge from Capri Sun!

We were challenged to take some selfies and tag them #Yessie (a yes selfie!). So fun, huh? I was so excited to start this challenge with my little buddy.

I chose a day that I knew the teenagers would be busy and I asked my 6 year old what he wanted to do.

His first choice? To go to the store and spend his change on treasures.

When I said yes, his face lit up! He was so excited. We headed to Walmart and he ran to the treat isle. Then he remembered that he wanted a lock for his treasure box, so we headed over and grabbed one.

While we were there he wanted a drink with his treat so we headed down the juice aisle. He loves Capri Suns.

There’s just something special about the silver pouch.

After he’s done drinking it he likes to fill them back up with air and trick people into thinking that is full. Then he squeezes it in their face and laughs so hard!

I’m happy he loves Capri Sun Organic because they are a “Better for you” option. They have no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Each pouch contains one serving of fruit according to U.S. Dietary Guidelines. I love these drinks for younger kids and serve them to my preschool class all the time.

Our next stop was our local Corn Maze.

Our local corn maze is such a great place to take our family. It’s usually a little expensive to take the family to but this year I planned in advance and bought the tickets when they were half off so I could say “YES” when the kids asked to go.

We had so much fun to do down the zip line, cow train, corn beach, hayrides, farm golf, face painting, pumpkin bowling, a corn maze and a giant jumbo bouncer! I love places like this because we can play, laugh and have fun together. A perfect activity to do on our “Day of Yes”!

Every corner we turned there was a different activity to do. He would turn to me and say “Mom! Can we do that?” and every time I said YES! It was the best.

The passes we bought also allowed us to get a Caramel Apple and some Hot Chocolate. BONUS!

Most of the time when you ask a child what they want to do, they have an answer right away.

But just in case your child is having a hard time deciding or coming up with an idea for your Day of Yes, I’ve compiled a few ideas for you here in a printable.

Click here to download the printable and print it and when it’s your Day of Yes, let them choose a couple off the list.

What a great idea! We have mini “dates” with different children, where we take them out one-on-one with mom or dad for an ice cream cone (or coffee for teens), but we’ve never had a Day of Yes. I’ll have to try it!
