Candied Yams Recipe~ The best in the world!

11/06/12 | Holidays, Thanksgiving

These are for sure the BEST candied yams in the world!  Every Thanksgiving my family assigns this dish to me to bring because everyone LOVES them.  I do not like yams, but I will eat a whole pan of these!

Note: If you don’t want these to be really sweet, decrease the amount of sugar added to the yams and the topping by about a half a cup.

Candied Yams: Copycat of Boston Market
2 cans 40 oz. each Yams
4 eggs
1/4 cup softened butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup whole milk or evaporated milk
3/4 cup granulated sugar

Topping:
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup flour
1/2 cup (one stick) butter softened

Directions:
Using a mixer, bosch or kitchenaid, blend the yams, vanilla, butter, sugar and milk at medium speed until well blended.  Whisk the eggs together in a bowl then blend into the yam mixture.

Pour into a cake pan and spread evenly.

Make the topping by using a fork to mix together the flour and brown sugar.  Add the butter and mix well with a fork.

Sprinkle evenly on top of the yams.

Bake at 350 for about 30 min or until the yams don’t wiggle 😉

This recipe is delicious! Almost too sweet, tbh. It’s more like a dessert than a side dish. I generally add pecans or marshmallows, and cinnamon, so I have to adjust the sugar accordingly.
