Natural Treatment for Acne (Zits & Pimples)

11/06/12 | Parenting, Teens

My daughter is a tween now, and is starting to get a little acne.  I never really got any acne because I had really dry skin and psoriasis, so I was clueless as to how to help her.  I called my sister for advice and just by chance she was shopping with her friend who happens to be a cosmetologist.  She told me that because she was young, I should really use something natural.

She told me to use Tea Tree Oil…

This is how she told me to use it:
1. Get a clean squirt bottle
2. Fill it with bottled water
3. Add about 15-20 drops of tea tree oil to the water
4. Shake it up

  • Clean your face EVERY NIGHT with a mild facial cleanser like Cetaphil:

  • Only use a scrub cleanser once or twice a week.  If you use a scrub too much, it will irritate the skin.
  • After cleaning your face, spray with the oil water mixture and let air dry.  The Oil will kill acne causing bacteria.
  • When you get a breakout, put a drop of Tea Tree Oil on your finger, rub it on the back of your hand, then dab on the affected area.
This is what her breakout looked like about a day after she dabbed the area with the oil.  It will kill the bacteria.  The skin might peel a little like in the picture below.  I am so glad to have found a natural treatment that works!
