This little turkey is so easy to make and the kids love him! I just cut out the shapes with construction paper and added googly eyes. Then I wrote the names of the songs we are working on for the Christmas Program along with some fun songs and Thanksgiving songs and the kids love it! I make sure I have enough feathers for each child so they all have a turn.
The turkey body is just a drumstick shape turned upside down and only glued around the sides and bottom of the large part of the turkey. I leave the neck and head unglued so the feathers can slip in and out from behind him. I use card stock for the back to keep it rigid.
Here are some thanksgiving songs you could add to your feathers. Just copy and print these for you to have handy when you are teaching.
Here it comes, here it comes.
Turkey on the table, turkey on the table.
MMM good, MMMM good.
Pumpkin pie, ten feet high.
We were so much thinner, before we came to dinner.
Me oh my, me oh my!
We Eat Turkey
Oh so Good
Oh So Good
Always On Thanksgiving
Yum,yum,yum
Yum,yum,yum
Mashed potatoes
Oh so good
Oh so good
Always on Thanksgiving
Always on Thanks giving
Yum,yum,yum
Yum,yum,yum
Four our friends and our play
Let’s be thankful; let’s be glad
For our food and the things we have
Let’s give thanks for you and me
And our home and family.
Fat turkeys, fat turkeys.
Oh, gobble, gobble, gobble,
Fat turkeys are we.
We walk very proudly and gobble so loudly,
Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble.
Oh, gobble, gobble, gobble.
Fat turkeys are we.
