Disney’s “Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story” Review~ How I used it to teach my kids about friendship

03/04/14 | Kids Crafts and Coloring, Reviews

Disney Interactive and Google teamed up to launch “Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story,” an original animated short film. The film will be available exclusively on Google Play, Google’s online store offering digital movies, books, music, apps, games and more.

Based on the popular Disney Parks Vinylmation collectible franchise, “Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story” is a 38 minute stop-motion animated film that tells the story of Blank, an unpainted Vinylmation, on an epic adventure through an original new world to find his lost soulmate.

This story was heartwarming and inspirational. I used this video to help teach my younger kids about friendship. Blank is a Mickey Mouse figure that has been unboxed and put through the painting process but still comes out blank. After trying to fix his “problem” he find’s another blank figure, who’s name is Blank Bow, who brings him a black bow tie and basically say’s “You’re good just the way you are”.

I love the interaction with these two figures. They accept each other just how they are. All the other figures are painted with bright and colorful designs, but the blank characters love each other because they are different.

This is a lesson that I teach often to my kids. I teach them to look for kids at school who may be a little different, or look like they need a friend. I tell them to say hi, learn their names, then call them by name. I teach them to sit by them at lunch when they need a friend the most.

I teach my kids to not judge a book by it’s cover. And most importantly I teach them that their friends should treat them with respect and love even if they don’t have the newest designer jeans, or have their hair a certain trendy way.

A true friend will accept you for who you are. Period.

With my younger kids. I use every opportunity to teach them how to be a good friend. I help them get over being shy and help them go over to someone and ask them what their name is. Usually after that, they are buddies. Kids are so innocent. They don’t judge. They don’t care what kind of clothes you are wearing. They don’t care what color your skin is. If you’ll play with them, and are nice to them, they will be your best bud forever.

You will love this stop animation story. I love the friendship that Blank makes as he is searching for his soul mate. Be sure to watch it, then download it on your devices. This is a perfect film for a little one taking a quiet time.
