Learn How to Use Your DSLR on Manual

I am in love with photography. I have been since I was in High School 20 some years ago when I took a photography class. It was different then, I used film. I had to use specific types of film to get the results I wanted. I also developed my own film, which sadly I think is a lost art.

I lettered in photography in High School and I wish I would have continued from then on pursuing my talent, but I didn’t. I didn’t start back up with photography until digital DSLR cameras were being used. So I had to learn how to use my digital DSLR camera. It was like starting from the middle again. Not the beginning, because there is SO MUCH MORE to photography than how to use your camera. I remembered composition, angles and lighting, now I needed to learn how to use my camera on manual so I could get the effects I wanted in my pictures. Below are some examples of my photography. My business was called Little Gems Photography. You can check out the Facebook page here.

Learning how to use your camera in manual mode takes a lot of time and practice. If you are artistic, you have been longing to learn how to use your camera this way. Sure, there is photoshop. And you can fix some mistakes and add effects after the fact. But I think a true photographer shouldn’t have to use photoshop much at all. The image should come out of the camera how you expect it to. That is why it is so important to learn how to use your camera in manual setting.

Say No To Auto

I am one busy Mama. I don’t have time to teach you how to use your camera in Manual mode. So I’m referring you all to one of my favorite photographers. Kristin Duke. She has an amazing book out called “Say No to Auto”. You need to buy it if you are planning on taking your photography to the next level.

Whether you want to learn how to use your camera on manual so you can get better images of your kids Birthday Parties or you are planning on creating a photography business, you need to check out her book, “Say No to Auto”.

Say No To Auto

I’d be glad to answer any photography questions you have in the comments section below. I ran my own photography business for years until I moved and became busy with other things. I have a lot of knowledge I can share with you. So if you have questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
