A few weeks ago I shared with you a great idea to help the kids get their chores done. And not only that, but it also teaches them to be financially responsible. It’s called the ChorePal app, presented by COUNTRY Financial®.
I love this app because it helps me track the performance and completion of my kids chores. I can keep track of one time, daily, or weekly tasks with this app and I can even assign rewards for the kids. I can choose to work on a point system or an allowance system.
My 6 year old son really loves to watch cartoons and play Minecraft. All day long if I let him. I love to use the chore app to help him understand that he needs to get his chores done before he uses electronics. For each point he receives from completing a chore, gives him 15 minutes of game time. Of course, because he is 6, his chores are not very hard so he gets one point per chore completed. His chores consist of brushing teeth, making bed, getting dressed, helping with the dishes, etc.
My older kids have a slightly different reward system. I don’t believe in paying my kids to do their chores around the house. Keeping our house clean and tidy is something the whole family should participate in, just because they live in the house. So they also have a point system that gives them time with their data on their phones.
