Easy Summer Snacks Kids Can Make Themselves

06/26/25 | Family, Free Printable, Kids, Summer, Uncategorized

Hey friends! When summer hits, the snack requests hit hard—multiple times per day. Between pool time and backyard playdates, my kitchen feels like a mini snack bar. That’s why I created a kid-friendly snack station with simple, healthy options that kids can grab and make on their own. It’s a game-changer for both sanity and snack peace!

1. Build a Snack Station

Think eye-level bins or containers filled with portioned ingredients: yogurt cups, squeezy fruit, cheese cubes, granola—easy for little hands and low for mom effort.

Mom Tip: Use clear containers so kids can see what’s inside without rummaging.

  • Snack Stack Set – Stackable, leak-resistant snack towers; seal tightly and nest away for easy refills.
  •  2‑Cup  Airtight Container – Perfect size for cut veggies or berries at snack time.

2. Fun DIY Popsicles

Whip fruit + yogurt + juice, pour into molds, freeze—and voilà! Healthy pops without added sugars. Here’s my favorite Strawberry Yogurt Popsicle recipe.

Mom Tip: Leave molds on the counter to soften for a minute before popping popsicles out—or run them under warm water for a second, magic happens!

Check out these top-rated molds:

  • Zoku Classic Pop Molds – Our top pick for mess-free, sturdy fans. Perfectly sized for little snacks.
  • Tovolo Groovy Pop Molds (6‑pack) – Easy-fill wide openings; plus, serious style points on Instagram

3. Portion-Control Snack Cups

Let kids scoop their own fruit or trail mix into cups—empowering and mess-regulated.

  • Silicone Airtight Container Set – Great for portioned snacks that stay fresh and visible on the shelf.

4. Quick No-Bake Energy Balls

Blend oats, nut butter, honey, and mix-ins. Roll into bite-size balls with your kiddos—it’s fun, hands-on, and perfect for refilling snack jars. Here is my detailed recipe for Energy Balls.

Mom Tip: Store in a container with a note: “Pick 2 energy balls and a piece of fruit!”
