Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. The air gets crisp, the sweaters come out, and apples—oh, the apples—are everywhere! 🍎 If you’re like me and looking for some fun, educational, and mess-friendly activities to do with your kiddos during this cozy season, I’ve got you covered.
Whether you’re a mom of toddlers, a preschool or daycare teacher, or a homeschooling mama, these apple-themed songs, crafts, and activities are perfect for teaching, bonding, and creating sweet memories together.
Why Apple Activities Are a Fall Must-Have
Apples aren’t just for eating (though we do plenty of that too—hello, apple crisp!). They’re a great way to sneak in learning through sensory play, music, and art. Plus, they’re super budget-friendly, easy to find, and totally kid-approved.
Apple-Themed Crafts for Kids
Craft time doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect. These ideas are simple, fun, and use stuff you probably already have at home:
1. Apple Stamping with Real Apples
Cut apples in half, dip in paint, and stamp onto paper. Add a stem and leaf to turn them into art!
Mom Tip: Use red, green, and yellow paint to sneak in a little color learning too.
2. Torn Paper Apple Collage
Have your kids tear red, green, or yellow construction paper into pieces and glue them onto an apple template.

Apple Songs and Rhymes
Get those wiggles out with a few fun apple songs. These are great for circle time or when you just need to hit pause on the chaos:
🎵 “Way Up High in the Apple Tree”
Way up high in the apple tree,
Two little apples smiled down at me.
I shook that tree as hard as I could,
Down came the apples… mmm, mmm good!
Sing this song with Miss Annette on YouTube.
🎶 “Five Red Apples”
This classic counting rhyme is perfect for practicing numbers and subtraction.
Five red apples hanging in a tree,
The juiciest apples you ever did see.
The wind came by and gave an angry frown,
And one little apple came tumbling down! 🍎
(Count down each time: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…)
No red apples hanging in the tree,
The juiciest apples you ever did see.
The wind came by and gave an angry frown,
And all the little apples came tumbling down!
👉 Kids love acting this one out—use your fingers as the “apples,” have them sway like trees, and let them “fall” dramatically to the floor when their apple drops. Perfect for circle time, especially with toddlers and preschoolers!

Apples
Sung to: “twinkle twinkle”
Apple, apple tree so tall,
I can hardly wait till fall!
When your apples I can pick,
Fill my basket, eat them quick.
Apple, apple tree so tall,
I can hardly wait till fall!
Apple ,apple tree so fair,
What do I see growing there!
Green and round and plump and sweet,
Soon they will be good to eat.
Apple, apple tree so fair,
What do I see growing there!
