DIY Repurposed Food Tins for Home Decor

03/26/14 | Crafts, Uncategorized

I love food tins. I love all the different shapes and sizes. I hate throwing them away because they seem like they could be so useful. They don’t, however, match my home decor, so they usually end up sitting in the basement or on top of the fridge . . .  forever collecting dust. One day I was sick of looking at them on top of my fridge. Looking all miss matched and out of place. So I decided I’d do something with them. Krylon spray paint to the rescue!

For this project I used Gum Drop and Bright Idea colors of Krylon Spray Paint. I first washed, removed labels and dried them thoroughly. I took a cardboard box outside and spray painted 3 coats on each tin.

I made so many other projects with this spray paint. Here is a magnetic key hanger, Easter Egg Candle Sticks and an Easter Banner (Coming Soon).

Love the paint colors! When you make them simple colors like you did they actually look good in with your home decor. Without it, I think the busy graphics give a more cluttered look. Cheers to spray paint!
