The 4th of July is one of my most favorite Holidays. I love my country and I’m proud to be an American. I’m blessed to live here and I want to celebrate it! We always have a lot of fun making red, white and blue treats for our parties, but this one was extra fun with the kids! 4th of July Pretzels Treat.

You only need a few ingredients and some kids and some patience and your set!

Here is what you’ll need:

4th of July Pretzels tutorial

  • Snyders Snaps Pretzels
  • Wilton Candy Melts Red and White
  • Blue Sugar Crystals
  • 2 bamboo skewers or toothpicks
  • Wax paper
  • Sandwich bag

Start out by melting the white and red candy melts in separate bowls according to the package directions.

Then fill it with the red candy melts:

Zip closed with no air in it and set aside for a minute.

Using two bamboo skewers or toothpicks, start dipping the pretzels in the white candy melts. Pull out and scrape off the excess with the other skewer.

Continue with the other pretzels until you’ve made the amount desired. Once the candy melt has set and is hard on the pretzels, turn them over and get ready to add the red stripe. Alternatively, you can just have some with blue sugar and some with red stripes (not on each side) if you desire.

Snip a SMALL bit off the corner of the sandwich baggie that has the red candy melts in it. Starting off the edge of the pretzels, squeeze until a small steady stream of red is coming out and quickly move your hand across the top of the pretzels making a zig zag pattern making sure to go off the sides like so:

Once the candy melts have dried, you can break off the excess red.
