It’s a good thing that I learned how to play sports when I was younger because I didn’t know how much I would be coaching sports as a mom!
I didn’t know the first thing about soccer when my kids started playing it. I played softball and volleyball in high school. But I learned quickly and when there were no volunteers to be the coach for my kids teams, I decided to step up and try my best! It’s been one of the funnest things I’ve done with my kids.
This year my daughter decided she wanted to play volleyball. I was happy about that because it’s a sport I actually know a little bit about. And when no other parent volunteered to coach, I signed up. I actually like being the coach because I can control when practices are. It’s my little secret to having a more organized life. Ha ha!
It took some refreshing, but we are doing pretty well.
We are all learning together. Good thing it’s just a Recreation league, or I would feel bad for those kids. But we have a lot of fun together and they are teaching me a lot since they have played more recently on competitive leagues.
I knew that I wanted to do something special for our team to make us stand out so I went to Custom Ink to design a few things for the kids. They are in grades 10-12 so I had to make sure that the stuff I got was great quality since they care a little more about their appearance!
I dabble in graphic design so I was so excited to create something special for our team. We have a very unique name (one of the boys came up with it) so I knew I wanted to include it in our design. Our team name is “Fleischaft”. It means “Meat Juice” in German. Ha Ha! I also needed a design that worked for boys and girls since it’s a co-ed team. I chose the Hanes ComfortSoft® Long Sleeve Tagless T-shirt for them to wear to practice and to games. I love wearing long sleeves while playing volleyball. Especially if you get a ball that has too much air in it! Ouch!
The design program in Custom Ink is so easy to use.
Even if you’ve never designed anything in your life, you will make a work of art in the Custom Ink Designer. I used an image of one of the volleyballs they have in their design program then tweaked the lettering until I got it just right. I love the way it turned out.
But, I couldn’t just stop at a shirt! No way! I wanted them to have a drawstring bag also. So I created one of those too using the Adjustable Strap Zipper Draw String Bag. And, did you notice, the back of our shirts have our names on them. So awesome!
These bags are not just cheap and thin drawstring bags. They are high quality with a zipper pocket in the front and adjustable straps that are heavy duty and flat so they don’t hurt your shoulders. I chose THIS BAG to print for our team.
